Vietnam is a country with many facets to explore and we are excited to announce that it is now adding more brilliance to the game of geocaching with its very own souvenir!

Bustling cities, delicious food, and breathtaking landscapes attract over 15 million visitors per year. Located in tropical Southeast Asia, Vietnam showcases that modern lifestyles, traditions, and mother nature can coexist side by side. In busy urban areas, such as Hanoi, you will find ancient temples next to chic rooftop bars, while the farmers in the Mekong and Red River deltas follow the rhythm of their harvest.

A true geocaching paradise, Vietnam boasts diverse natural beauty. Landscapes range from the densely forested highlands and the rocky bays near Ha Long in the north, to the Annamite Mountain Range with its tropical climate in the Central Highlands, and the coastal lowlands with their sandy beaches along the southeastern border.

This week’s Geocache of the Week brings cachers to the eastern coast of Vietnam, just outside the city of Hue. Ghost Park – GC6GDTH is hidden in the Ho Thuy Tien waterpark. The waterpark once attracted visitors looking to enjoy the waterslides and aquarium, but closed only a few years after opening.

Now visitors come to Ho Thuy Tien to see how it has changed. The space that once resounded with warm weather cheer is now filled with an air of mystery, where the impressive structures rust and the natural surroundings slowly take over the park.

Cachers coming to find GC6GDTH should add extra time to their outing to ensure they can explore all parts of the park. A walk through the grounds takes visitors to an overgrown amphitheater, abandoned waterslides surrounded by lush palm trees, and graffiti-covered villas.

The biggest attraction is the building that once housed the aquarium. From the outside, the three-story structure looks like it is in the grasp of a large stone dragon. The dragon is in fact part of the building and visitors can enter and climb up into the dragon’s mouth to see a breathtaking view of the Thuy Tien Lake.

With its haunting location and dazzling natural beauty, Ghost Park is just one of many amazing geocaching locations in Vietnam leading visitors and locals alike to exciting places regular tourists might never get to see.
