Geocache closes I64 Memorial for 7 Hours

Package On I-64 Proves To Be Harmless

State Police say the VDOT Workers’ Memorial on Interstate-64 was closed down for several hours Sunday while investigators checked out a suspicious package. State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says bomb technicians determined the package was not harmful and was part of a Global Positioning System hunt. Geller says State Police re-opened the memorial (pictured) to the public at around 6 p.m. Sunday. She says the facility in the western part of Albemarle County was closed for seven hours while the technicians conducted their investigation.
